You may find yourself in this programme because (due to Covid-19, or other macro economic influences) you want more control over what’s happening in your career. It may be that you see this time as an opportunity to do something new or different, or that you’re living with a daily fear of losing your job. Whatever the reason this module is all about stepping back for a moment to think about you and your career. In this brief module we’re going to ask a lot of career-related questions to give you a chance to reflect and start to focus on what this next step means to you.

The average person will work from the age of 25 to 65.  They will work around 48 weeks each year and 37.5 hours each week (probably more in today’s working climate).  During that time the average person is likely to:

·               Spend 40 years at work

·               Work 1,920 five-day working weeks

·               Spend 9,600 days at work

·               Work for around 1,800 hours each year

·               Spend 72,000 hours at work during that 40 years

With all that time at work – are you doing what you really want to do?

Today’s climate may put a temporary pause on your career plans, or it may push you to do something you haven’t thought about or have always wanted to do, but not had the drive or courage to try.
